BEER FACT #12
Have You Had a Falstaff Lately?
No. You might have a can in your collection, but Falstaff, once America's 3rd largest brewery, dried up in 1997.
A Falstaff beer was last poured in 2005 after Pabst (owners of the Falstaff brand) stopped production. Getting its
start as the Lemp Brewery in 1838 St. Louis, it was later named, Falstaff, from the Shakespearean character,
Sir John Falstaff. Falstaff's decline began in 1965 after acquiring the Narragansett Brewing Company in Rhode Island.
A state filed antitrust lawsuit severely weakened the company - though later acquitted, it never recovered.
