Drunk Without Drinking

A recent NY Times article highlighted a Belgian brewery worker who was pulled over and given a breathalyzer test that registered more than four times the legal limit...however, the brewery worker had not been drinking. It was later found that he had a rare condition called auto-brewery syndrome. This condition ferments carbohydrates in the gut into ethanol, effectively brewing alcohol inside the body. His body was making its own beer. Though I don't believe this is a brewery we're going to want to visit. Cheers to enjoying the flavor of beer if it's going to be in our stomachs!
